Materials needed:
•Chits with product names written on them (could be made on paper and cut into small squares)
•Timer (optional)
•Optional props/costumes for the advertisements
Instructions:
1. Have the child pick a chit with a product name.
2. Ask them to brainstorm the features and benefits of the product, and come up with a catchy slogan or tagline.
3. Have them create a short advertisement for the product, using props and costumes if available.
4. Once the advertisement is complete, have them present it to the group or record it on the video to watch later.
5. Optional: If time allows, set a timer for 2-3 minutes and challenge the child to create a new advertisement for a different product during that time.
6. After all advertisements are complete, ask the child to reflect on the process. Ask them which intelligence(s) they used the most during the activity (e.g. visual, kinesthetic, logical, linguistic, musical).
This activity allows children to practice their visual and kinesthetic intelligence by creating a graphic advertisement and using props and costumes to bring the product to life. Logical intelligence is practiced by thinking about the features and benefits of the product, while linguistic intelligence is practiced by coming up with a catchy tagline or slogan. Additionally, if the child chooses to create a jingle or song for their advertisement, they can also practice their musical intelligence.
